Dorothée Zmijewska, dite DELORNOIR, est née et a grandi à Lódz en Pologne.
En 1989, à l’âge de 26 ans, elle s’installe à Paris où elle ne cessera sa recherche constante d’une identité artistique.
Elle fréquente différents ateliers parisiens pour approfondir ses connaissances en peinture, puis elle s’inscrit aux Ateliers Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris pour étudier le dessin et la sculpture.
En 2014, elle découvre le bitume et se prend de passion pour ce nouveau médium, expérimente de nouvelles formes de création, puis met au point une technique personnelle et innovante dans son atelier à Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse près de Paris.
Peintre de l'Or Noir, Dorothée Delornoir crée des toiles à base de bitume pour révéler de fabuleuses transparences et des motifs étonnants.
Delacroix, Géricault et bien d’autres artistes de l’époque romantique éprouvaient vis-à-vis de cette substance un véritable engouement. Ils l’utilisaient de manière empirique sans savoir que cette matière « physico-chimique » ne meurt jamais.
Dorothée Delornoir a adopté « la manière noire » en peinture. Elle est née pour chercher dans l’obscurité du mystère emprunté aux anciens, ce que Salvador Dali dans son enthousiasme, et son humour noir appelle une chose défendue.
Dorothée Zmijewska, known as DELORNOIR, was born and raised in Lódz, Poland.
In 1989, at the age of 26, she moved to Paris where she never ceased her constant search for an artistic identity.
She attended various Parisian workshops to deepen her knowledge of painting, then she enrolled in the Ateliers Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris to study drawing and sculpture.
In 2014, she discovered bitumen and fell in love with this new medium, experimented with new forms of creation, then developed a personal and innovative technique in her workshop in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse near Paris.

Delacroix, Géricault and many other artists of the Romantic era felt a real craze for this substance. They used it empirically without knowing that this "physico-chemical" matter never dies.
Dorothée Delornoir adopted "the black way" in painting. She was born to seek in the darkness of mystery borrowed from the ancients, what Salvador Dali in his enthusiasm and dark humor called a forbidden thing.
