Artiste sculpteure
Jouer avec les matières depuis toujours, que ce soit avec les tissus autour de la machine à coudre de ma grand-mère ou autour de l'établi de mon grand-père. Styliste modéliste, une formation choisie pour créer. Des années de travail passionnantes. A l'abri des regards, je m'initie à la gravure, la peinture puis le modelage. C'est avec la terre que je découvre le moyen d'exprimer ce qui m'anime.
Sculpter, modeler les attitudes sans jamais les figer, exprimer une émotion, un sentiment, une expression, une intention avec ces lignes épurées et ces volumes en mouvement. Sans anatomie superficielle,mais sans masquer les différences (elles sont essentielles) toutes les différences, elles s'invitent parfois. Suggérer, laisser place à l'imagination.
Les socles au sol ou muraux, font partie de l'œuvre "Théâtre urbain". Je les réalise en bois et béton, parfois avec des matériaux de récupération, avec des imperfections, j'aime cet envers du décor. Comme sur mes tableaux de bois "Entrebois" où apparaissent souvent les traces d'un passé, d'une main. La verticalité et les espaces y rythment les nuances. Ce rythme est présent dans les encres de "Carnet jeté", dessins de modèles en mouvements où l'espace de quelques secondes, l'instant est saisi.
Avec le temps, SY devient ma signature. L'initiale de mon prénom et le final de mon nom de jeune fille, Y, une lettre à laquelle je tiens, mon prisme protecteur.
Capturer les nuances des êtres, leur diversité, envelopper les attitudes, sculpter toujours avec bienveillance et optimisme.
Playing with materials has always been, whether with the fabrics around my grandmother's sewing machine or around my grandfather's workbench. Fashion designer, a training chosen to create. Years of exciting work. Out of sight, I learned about engraving, painting and then modeling. It is with clay that I discover the means of expressing what drives me.
Sculpting, modeling attitudes without ever freezing them, expressing an emotion, a feeling, an expression, an intention with these clean lines and these moving volumes. Without superficial anatomy, but without masking the differences (they are essential) all the differences, they sometimes invite themselves. Suggest, leave room for the imagination.
The floor or wall plinths are part of the "Urban theatre" work. I make them in wood and concrete, sometimes with recycled materials, with imperfections, I like this behind the scenes. Like on my "Entrebois" wooden paintings where the traces of a past, of a hand often appear. The verticality and the spaces give rhythm to the shades. This rhythm is present in the inks of "Journeybook", drawings of models in movement where the space of a few seconds, the moment is seized.
Over time, SY becomes my signature. The initial of my first name and the final of my maiden name, Y, a letter that I hold dear, my protective prism.
Capturing the nuances beings, their diversity, enveloping attitudes, always sculpting with benevolence and optimism.
